Graduate Program: Agricultural Leadership M.Ag.

Oklahoma State University's graduate program in agricultural leadership is designed to prepare students for entry into or advancement in non-formal teaching careers, as well as providing development of professional leadership skills for other careers into agribusiness, government service, extension, or adult education. This graduate program is among the most respected in the nation, with internationally recognized faculty and state-of-the-art laboratories.

The Master of Agriculture degree program in agricultural leadership provides a flexible program, which can be tailored to meet each student's unique situation. In addition to the wide variety of professional courses in agricultural education, offerings are also available from all academic departments in the division; including agricultural economics, biosystems and agricultural engineering, plant and soil science, animal science, biochemistry, and entomology and plant pathology.

Master of Agriculture Admission Criteria
Admission requirements for the Master of Agriculture degree in Agriculture with an option in Agricultural Leadership are similar to those for the Master of Science degree programs. No standardized test scores are required. Admission to the Master of Agriculture degree program requires the following:

  1. A bachelor's degree in an appropriate field such as agricultural education or an agriculturally related area from an accredited university;
  2. An acceptable grade point average in undergraduate studies (a minimum GPA of 2.80 or 3.0 in the last 30 hours for unqualified admission);
  3. Recommendations from three people knowledgeable of the applicant's professional qualifications;
  4. A statement of purpose for pursuing the master’s degree.

Master of Agriculture in Agriculture Admission Procedures

Applications for admission are made online at the Graduate College website. You will be asked to set up an account with a user identification and password.  When you are asked to select a degree program, select “Master of Agriculture degree in Agriculture with an option in Agricultural Leadership.”  You will be asked to submit a non-refundable application fee of $50.00 for domestic students or $75.00 for international students and to provide copies of all college or university transcripts.  Transcripts may be mailed to the Graduate College, 202 Whitehurst Hall, Stillwater, OK 74078-1019, or they may be sent from a secure electronic server to

Submit a statement of purpose and three letters of professional recommendation to the Graduate Coordinator, Department of Agricultural Education, Communications & Leadership, 448 Agricultural Hall, Stillwater, OK 74078-6031.

Your application will be referred to the Department by the Graduate College.  After it is reviewed by the Agricultural Leadership work group, you will receive notification of its decision from the Graduate College.  Applications are reviewed continuously.
