Agricultural education student Marty Jones selected as 2014 OSU Outstanding Senior

Marty Jones

The Oklahoma State University Alumni Association recently selected agricultural education student Marty Jones as a 2014 Outstanding Senior.

The Outstanding Senior award recognizes seniors who excel through academic achievement; campus and community activities; academic, athletic or extra-curricular honors or awards; scholarships and work ethic during their time at OSU. Jones is one of 15 students selected for the award this year.

Jones is from Owasso, Okla., where he was a fifth generation rancher and the son of Mike and Trena Jones. While at Oklahoma State, he served within his fraternity, on the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Student Council and the OSU Alumni Association Student Board. As a Former Owasso FFA member, Jones was able to find success in individual events such as public speaking, showing livestock, and leadership positions within the chapter. Jones also had the opportunity of serving along side his peers through Career Development Events (CDEs) that included parliamentary procedure, floriculture evaluation and opening/closing ceremonies. These events encouraged him to pursue his service to the FFA by serving as a State FFA Officer and eventually as a National FFA Officer Candidate. These experiences led Jones to pursue a degree in Agricultural Education. Jones currently is student teaching at the Haworth FFA chapter.

Upon completion of his student teaching experience, Jones will earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture with a major in agricultural education from OSU.

A public banquet honoring Jones and the other Outstanding Seniors will be held Monday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center in Stillwater. Tickets may be purchased online at orangeconnection.org/osdinner or by calling 405.744.8711.
