Career Highlights
Dr. Edwards was recognized as the “Outstanding Young Agricultural Educator” for 2004-2005 by the American Association for Agricultural Education, Southern Region.

He received the "Author of the Year Award" for Volume 41 (2000) of the Journal of Agricultural Education for the manuscript entitled, "Higher-Order and Lower-Order Thinking Skills Achievement in Secondary-Level Animal Science: Does Block Scheduling Pattern Influence End-of-Course Learner Performance?" The article was co-authored with Dr. Gary E. Briers, Texas A&M University.

Prior to his appointment at Oklahoma State University, Dr. Edwards served as an assistant professor at the University of Georgia, and in various capacities as visiting assistant professor, research associate, and visiting lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Education at Texas A&M University.

Before joining Texas A&M University in 1999, Dr. Edwards taught secondary agricultural science and technology for 15 years in Texas. In his role as an agriscience teacher/FFA advisor, Dr. Edwards advised a national-winning team in the National FFA Poultry Evaluation Career Development Event (1996) and in the National FFA Invitational Parliamentary Law Contest (1988). In addition, FFA chapters co-advised by Dr. Edwards received either gold or silver emblem ratings on five different occasions in the National FFA Chapter Rating Award program.

Since 1997, Dr. Edwards has served as a member of the National FFA Poultry Evaluation Career Development Event Committee; in 2000, he accepted the role of superintendent for the event. He received the Honorary American FFA Degree (Teacher) in 1995, and became a lifetime member of the National FFA Alumni Association in 1987.

Dr. Edwards holds membership in numerous state and national professional organizations, including the American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE), the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE), the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), and the Oklahoma and Texas Agriculture Teachers' Associations (OAETA and VATAT, respectively). He has lectured about agricultural education in the Russian Federation and in Lithuania; he has also conducted research in Lithuania.

Personal
Dr. Edwards is a native of southeast Texas. He enjoys fishing, reading non-fiction books about American history, especially, biographies of American Civil War military commanders, and traveling internationally. He is married to his wife, Aniceta, and they have a son, Alvydas.
